A moving image set design and production piece, Whole is an observation of opposition . Acting as a study of functioning differences that exist as necessity, the piece engages with relationships between the conscious and subconscious, past and present and the real and the surreal, exploring these contradictions through the presentation of divided space
With a physical root in absurdist theatre, the split space has been created around the married couple featured in Eugene Ionesco’s The Chairs, with husband and wife each assigned to a room of their own. Whole operates with the core concepts of oppositions and relationships, particularly those existing between human thought and behaviour, and their necessary coexistence, at its centre, these themes being observed within a framework that lies between the surreal, the absurd and the experienced.
